Tolmachoff Farms {Glendale, AZ} – 2014

The weather in Arizona if finally cooling off. It is bearable to be outside for more than ten minutes. For us, that means that fall is finally here and it’s time to find a good pumpkin patch! I think events like going to the pumpkin patch give you this amazing perspective. Suddenly, you look back over the year and realize how quickly the time has passed. You may glance back at pictures from the year beforeĀ and smile at how much the little ones have grown.

Sometimes I wonder if Nate has a farm in his future. He is such a natural with animals and physical work. He loves getting his hands dirty and the thrill of watching something grow that he has planted. The peach tree in our back yard would be long gone if it wasn’t for his tender care.

Last year, Riley was so little. I remember him trying to do the corn maze for all of three minutes. After that, he was done. This year, I decided to just let the big kids do the corn maze and take Riley to the play area. (Sometimes I learn lessons and remember them!). He had a great time just playing in the corn.

Whenever we get to visit Tolmachoff Farms, it reminds me a little of home. It feels like Texas. I grew up four houses down from a working farm. Walking home from the bus, I’d pass the horses and the trees. It was always so peaceful and beautiful. I love when I get to share this experience with the kids.

This was just a really good day. One I want to remember. I think I’m finally coming out of feeling sick all the time. We’ve been in maintenance mode around here for a while and it was nice to be silly and eat a turkey leg and engage in a staring contest with a goat.

It was so good just to hear the kids laugh and see them smile.
