Jen and Kate, college freshman (I think?), Lake Whitney.

I made it to Vienna, VA tonight.

I am so happy just to be here.

My time zones will be amazingly upside down (Arizona is 3 hours behind), but that’s alright.

For the next few days, I am doing what I do best.

I am going to laugh and remember and smile and snuggle with a new baby.

Last week, for Easter, I was in Murphy, Texas… the land where people know me as Katie Thompson.

It is almost surreal to be here with Jen now. Lots of childhood memories and forgotten laughter rising up to meet me.

Times like these make me miss my momma more. It makes me wish we lived next door to each other and took turns making dinner for each other.

It also makes me wish for a true friend for everyone in the entire world. Kinda like that old commercial ‘I’d like to buy the world a coke….’ Instead, I’d like to wish the world a friend.

Hey, it could happen… No, you don’t have to make friendship pins. Unless you wanna.
