What’s it to you?

Ever so often, I receive kind emails or comments about my marriage or my sweet husband.

Thank you for that.

And yes – I agree! I am absolutely blessed. I’ve received far more that I ever deserve.

Sometimes you ask me what our secret is. I’ve been trying to put into words how we arrived at this beautiful and lovely place.

A few weeks ago, I was visiting the farm down the street – The Simple Farm.

Lylah and I were visiting and she shared with me something that had been whispered into her heart. Whenever she began to look over her shoulder and wonder why her sweet husband wasn’t doing exactly what she thought he “should” be doing at the time, God asked her to say “What’s it to you?” to herself.

The moment she told me that phrase, I put it into action in my own marriage.

Re-entering toddler phases has its share of times when I am looking over my shoulder and wondering where the rest of the troops are.

I’ve begun to immediately whisper “What’s it to you?” to my heart.

After I giggle at how wonderfully silly I feel saying that to myself, I notice that I’ve softened. I hear laughter and little feet. They may not be doing the dishes. The house may be an absolute wreck, but there are giggles and hugs.

I’ll try to share more about how our marriage has grown over the years.

Today, I just wanted to share that with you.

Try it and let me know how it goes, ok?!

Hugs,

Kate

  1. Love it! Mine was different phrasing but same message and oh wow what a difference in my attitude.

  2. I’m sure the Lord led me here this minute to read these words. There is a situation where I need to tell myself “What’s it to you?” tonight. I’m going to remember that as I go in. Thanks!
