This year, our church began a middle school youth group program called ‘The Edge’. The first night, we were hoping for about 15 6th-8th graders. We are averaging 50! Our dear friends, Shannon and Karen, are the youth group ministers. (Did I mention they are Riley’s Godparents? The coolest.)

I have been staying after I drop off Julia to help with dinner. I leave in time to put Riley in the bath 🙂

Just being around that many teens whose faith is growing is so exciting. It brings back so many memories of my own youth group at Custer Road United Methodist in Plano, Texas. We had the most incredible group. So many in this group went on to be pastors, missionaries, youth group ministers, and praise and worship leaders. There was something so special about this group.

I found my best friend, Jen, there.

I learned that there was only one love that would truly satisfy me and never leave me.

Getting to watch Julia walk a similar road is such a privilege.

Are you watching your children walk down a road that looks familiar to you?

  1. This sounds lovely. I so wish they had a middle school group at our church. 6th through 12th grade is such a huge age difference to all be in one group.

    • Oh, that is so true! We are very blessed!
